2013 Calendars are Here!!
Sorry for the break in blogging! It's not that I haven't been creating illustrations & textiles like mad, but I've actually been doing the 9-5 thing since the summer, so time has slipped on by...
Anyway, here is my new 2013 Tea Towel Calendar, featuring two things I miss terribly, Brooklyn and Catter - although it could represent any city. This would make a great gift for the holidays, don't you think?
It is available for sale in my shop.

Two New Posters!

I've only been in San Francisco for a few months, and unfortunately for me, most of the time I've spent here has been at home nursing my broken leg (ouch!). But luckily you can still draw if your leg is broken, and luckily I still have great friends and clients back in Brooklyn!
These two new posters are for DJ PreSkool, for whom I did this poster a few months back. As always, click to enlarge!

Posters for Subplot Studios
Here are three new posters I've created for Subplot Studios. Subplot Studios is working with illustrators from all over to make show poster art available to schools and local theater companies. Their aim is to encourage kids to get involved in drama programs by offering cool art for the show posters. I worked on Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Our Town. Click to enlarge!

Satellite Lounge, 6.17.11

Sorry I haven't posted in so long! I have been hard at work creating textiles, pillows and all sorts of new designs to beef up the old etsy page. Hopefully it will be up and running soon! In the meantime, I created a new poster for a DJ night at Satellite Lounge in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It's a great little bar that has lots of fun pinball machines and they recently got taps! Sounds perfect for a hot summer night and I'm sure this event will be too!

American Illustration 30 - CHOSEN

I'm pleased to announce that one of my favorite posters I've ever done has been chosen to appear as part of American Illustration 30 - their 30th anniversary annual! This was also one of the best shows ever, featuring Traveling Circle, Heavy Hands and Sean Dwyer Griffin.

2 New Posters

I am so excited to have done a new poster for my pal Lady Bree, for a show at Public Assembly. This is a bigger venue so doing a poster for an even there is kind of a big deal for little old me! My good friends Heavy Hands will be playing too.
I also had the pleasure of designing a poster for Josh, who is DJing with DJ IT next friday night. I illustrated on top of an old photo from our trip to Paris years ago, and thought collage would be another fun thing to try, rather than strictly illustration, just like the moon man poster from last month.

I found an old travel drive that had some pattern designs I worked on recently - I think they would make great tea towels or other fun home goods. Click to enlarge!

2011 Tea Towel Calendar!

The holidays start a little early for those of us who make our own cards, wrapping paper, and, well, gifts (my fingers are a little numb from knitting so much! hahaha)...but I have always wanted to make a calendar that displayed the whole year on one big sheet - and this year I've finally done it!
This is my 2011 zeppelin calendar, which has been printed on a lovely linen-cotton canvas as a tea towel. I am very excited to get these in the mail - I ordered a test version and it looks great! I am going to sew them up and embroider the edges, hopefully in time to sell a few by the holidays, or at least to give away as gifts to friends and family.

Traveling Circle - Handmade House!

The wonderful and amazing Traveling Circle is going to be releasing their first record very very soon, and I was thrilled to be able to do the artwork for it. I am so excited to see what it will look like once its manufactured. It will be produced by Nasoni Records, out of Berlin, Germany and released on CD and Vinyl. Hooray!
Click to enlarge - there's a lot to see!

bon voyage flyer

i designed this flyer for a friend's going away party...all hand-lettered and hand-drawn. i was told "lycklig resa" means happy trails/goodbye/bon voyage in swedish - the swede that told me that had never heard the expression but that it was perfect...?! i am considering changing out the color scheme and redoing the layout of the text so it just says "happy holidays" since i have yet to send out cards...

CD Cover Design

Here is a record cover I recently did for the Broken Reed Saxophone Quartet.
It is Henri Rousseau's 1910 painting The Dream, in which I replaced the figure with a Broken Reed.
