2013 Calendars are Here!!

Sorry for the break in blogging! It's not that I haven't been creating illustrations & textiles like mad, but I've actually been doing the 9-5 thing since the summer, so time has slipped on by... Anyway, here is my new 2013 Tea Towel Calendar, featuring two things I miss terribly, Brooklyn and Catter - although it could represent any city. This would make a great gift for the holidays, don't you think? It is available for sale in my shop.

Peaceable Kingdom Toile De Jouy

I recently illustrated an original, hand-drawn scene featuring extinct animals. The Wooly Mammoth, Caspian Tiger, Giant Moa, and Horned Gopher are having tea. I created a toile pattern out of the drawing, adding the Xerces Blue Butterfly, Dodo, and Labrador Duck playing amongst the trees and grass. Can't wait to have this one printed on fabric!

Some New Textiles

As I've said before, we recently moved across the country from Brooklyn, NYC to San Francisco. It has been a big change and there have been many serious hiccups preventing us from truly being settled, such as a horrible leg break for me at the start of 2012! But I really love our apartment and have been trying to make it home. Here are some new textiles I designed for our home, for blankets, curtains, pillows and other little accessories. Flower Curtain

I recently took a floral print that I had designed and turned it into a textile.

...and here it is as a shower curtain! A flower curtain, if you will.

The Sun and the Moon

I created these two little illustrations for a project at home. I put them in embroidery hoops and am planning to hang them on either side of our bathroom window (still settling into our new apartment - the decorating part is so fun!). I think they'd also be great on pillows and tee shirts, and have so many friends with little ones on the way that a moon onesie is definitely on the project horizon!

Satellite Lounge, 6.17.11

Sorry I haven't posted in so long! I have been hard at work creating textiles, pillows and all sorts of new designs to beef up the old etsy page. Hopefully it will be up and running soon! In the meantime, I created a new poster for a DJ night at Satellite Lounge in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It's a great little bar that has lots of fun pinball machines and they recently got taps! Sounds perfect for a hot summer night and I'm sure this event will be too!

2011 Tea Towel Calendar!

The holidays start a little early for those of us who make our own cards, wrapping paper, and, well, gifts (my fingers are a little numb from knitting so much! hahaha)...but I have always wanted to make a calendar that displayed the whole year on one big sheet - and this year I've finally done it!

This is my 2011 zeppelin calendar, which has been printed on a lovely linen-cotton canvas as a tea towel. I am very excited to get these in the mail - I ordered a test version and it looks great! I am going to sew them up and embroider the edges, hopefully in time to sell a few by the holidays, or at least to give away as gifts to friends and family.
